Les Dames d’Escoffier’s Gala Dinner is set for November 16, 2013 at the Ritz Carlton in Coconut Grove. Chef Ramesh Kaduru and his team will be preparing an unforgettable dinner for everyone to enjoy in a regal setting. Attention to details was paramount and even our beautiful invitations have a story to tell.
The invitations were handmade by members of the Paper Museum located in the historic Biltmore Hotel.
Using ancient techniques the paper is composed of fabric, paper pulp, flowers, threads and a variety of garden organic materials, soaked and mixed with water, then poured over screens covered with blossoms and leaves. Once set, the paper is carefully dried, then cut one by one into its present format. Press dried grape leaves from Dame Lucila Venet Jimenez’s garden were placed onto each folded invitation, wrapped and tied with a blue ribbon that is reminiscent of the colors of Les Dames’ logo. The inside printing was produced onto woodblocks (6 ½ x 4 ½) which create a bas-relief frame similar to artistic lithographic works of art.
This special invitation is suitable for framing.
